#STOPTHEVIOLENCE : Young Girl Struck By Stray Bullet While Planning Party Dies On Birthday!

While at home Monday evening #KentaviaBlackful , 11 was hard at work planning a party for her upcoming birthday. Kentavia’s family was occupied watching a #ChicagoBears game on the television; as she designed t-shirts and invitations on a computer for her friends attending her party reports #PeopleMagazine. That’s when a stray bullet pierced through the living room shattering the glass window and striking Kentavia in her head.

Kentavia’s family frantically rushed her to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. She was pronounced dead the next day, on what would’ve been her 12th birthday. “This is a baby we’re talking about,” her grandfather, Kenneth Donner, tells local new the day after she died. “She hadn’t even really experienced life yet. Kentavia’s story has touched the entire city of #Chicago , as hundreds of people gathered and release balloons into the sky on behalf of her life on Wednesday. Kentavia’s family members and school officials remember her as sweet and very intelligent girl. She was a honor roll student, class President, Math team member and tutor at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School.

Police officials are currently hunting for the gunmen responsible for the senseless death of young Kentavia.

“As a police department, we are committed to giving our full attention to this crime against our young resident,” states Harvey Police Chief Eddie Winters to local news on Tuesday. “We are asking for the support of our residents.'“
