Connecticut native and current high school student Garris tells the media out that many attempted to convince her to straighten her hair for the competition but she ultimately refused. Stating that she felt the most confident and beautiful with her hair in it’s natural state. It has been indicated that Garris plans to attend Southern Connecticut State University and aspires to be a Trauma nurse one day.
