#SayHisName : Off Duty Army Specialist Glendon Oakley Saved Multiple Children During El Paso Massacre!
An off duty Army specialist has been deemed a hero after saving multiple children during the recent El Paso Massacre that left numerous victims injured and 20 people dead.
According to the #Insider , Glendon Oakley has interviewed with a local television station to reveal the details of the fatal incident. "A little kid ran in there telling us 'there's an active shooter in Walmart,' but we didn't pay it no attention because for one it's a just little kid, and for two we're at the mall and not at Walmart," Oakley states. "We just didn't pay no mind."
It has been stated that it wasn’t until after Oakley entered a Footlocker within the mall that he then heard two gun shots followed by numerous people running and screaming. "I'm in the military, so when I hear the gunshots we're trained to think fast. Grab your weapon, think fast, take cover, do anything you can.”
Oakley goes on to state that he did have his gun with him and that he is fully licensed to carry. As he began to exit the mall he saw numerous children running for safety without a parent or adult insight. He states another man and himself responded quickly and they both scooped up as many children as they could to exit the building.
"The only thing I think of is just to pick up as many kids as possible. Maybe a total of 13 kids running around, but I could only get about three. I think he grabbed three as well," Oakley states. "I was just focused on the kids, I wasn't really worried about myself. I put my head down and just ran as fast as I could.”
