Marlon Wayans Defends Daughter Against Homophobic Instagram Trolls!
Happy Pride everyone!
The month of June serves as a 30 day holiday to pay direct homage to the LGQBT community with both love and respect. However you can almost always count on someone, (anyone actually) to come around and kill the vibe with negativity or hate (or maybe even both).
According to #TheRoot ; comedian and actor #MarlonWayans took to #Instagram to pay tribute to his 19 year old daughter Amai on the first day of pride. The caption read :
“Happy pride 🌈 to my pride and joy,” he wrote. “I wouldn’t change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxies and back again.”
A few Instagram users were taking aback by Marlon’s post and took the time out to share their opinions and deepest thoughts. #BuzzFeed sites instagram user @patriarchal_leadership commented “Damn unfollow. Sad shit,” an Marlon then responded replied “bye.” Followed by @chizz401 comment “She’s not old enough to understand what that’s really all about. You have the power to change lives Bro, don’t teach her that.” Marlon then responded, “she’s 19. She’s who she is until or until she don’t chose different. Love her for her not what i want her to be.”
Unfortunately the trolling didn’t stop there; Instagram user @3mdh5 provided a lengthy paragraph about a whole bunch of none sense ; “You think if you support her you are good??? Being a parent is not about saying yes to everything no you need to say yes on the good things only now just one question if you really support her would you give up being a grandfather because of this stupid decision she made because at last as remember two girls can’t make a baby.” Marlon responded with the quickness to state, “there’s technology and i got the means.. so thank you shallow f&!$. Go hate on your own kids.”
Instead of taking the hateful notions these Instagram users decided to indulge in, Marlon used this ordeal as a teaching moment “i thought of erasing them but i need the world to see the ignorance that still exist,” he states.. “Objective without obstacles is a worthless triumph. We all will some day get to unconditional love. Because of my daughter i am one step closer. I am not God, i don’t judge i just LOVE. And still pray for the haters because i refuse to judge them too i just love.”
Let’s get it together guys; we live in a world where negativity is often pushed to the forefront before anything and it has always gotten us no where! Let’s spread love not hate; respect and accept how people want to live their lives. We all deserve it.
