Georgia Teen Earns 31 College Acceptance Letters!!!
Congratulations are in order! Kayla Willis of Westlake High School located in Fulton, Georgia is serving #BlackGirlMagic goals as she has successfully earned 31 college acceptance letters and raked in $900,000 in scholarship funding!
According to #EssenceMagazine Willis initially hesistated to portray her story publically, asking her father did he think it was appropriate. Willis tells local news that her father advised her to show the world what she’s made of. Sources have indicated that Willis shared a photo on her social media handle, which displayed the senior hall of her school, a graduation photo of herself with multiple acceptances below. “I posted, turned off my phone, clocked into work and I just keep hearing a bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing,” she told the news station. “And I’m like, what is going on? Am I going viral right now? They’re missing a few but I’m not going to complain or brag because I still have a lot underneath there.”
Willis states she wants students to know that anything is possible, if you fully apply yourself and believe in all possibilities. Sources have indicated that’s Willis scored a 1160 on her SAT which she deemed as average, she’s currently maintaining an average of 3.95 GPA. “To show them that someone who made an average SAT score who has good grades – someone can make it and do that type of thing.I wanted to inspire people and show them that you can actually dream big and get to where you want to go."
